Duromine weight loss pills overview
Duromine is an anorexigenic drug, which contains active substance Phentermine. For patients’ convenience, Duromine is produced in capsules. In capsules, Phentermine active substance is in form of ion-exchange resin. Duromine dosage: 15 mg, 30 mg and 40 mg.
Duromine weight loss pills should be used under the supervision of a skilled doctor. Prior to use Duromine, an obese patient must tell his doctor about diseases that he has. According to the common state of a patient and diseases he has, the doctor can prescribe different doses of Duromine.
Duromine 40 mg is a maximal dose you can take per day. It is not recommended to take Duromine 40 mg in:
- high blood pressure
- elderly age over 65
- overactive thyroid gland
- some depressive disorders
Patients should bear in mind that Duromine weight loss pills are never prescribed to people with BMI less than 27, as well as to pregnant and breastfeeding women. In addition, patients under the age of 12 must never use Duromine.
Meridia weight loss pills overview
Meridia is an anorexigenic drug, containing the active ingredient Sibutramine. Meridia is produced in capsules for oral use. Doses of Meridia capsules are 5 mg, 10 mg and 15 mg.
At the beginning of obesity treatment, it is recommended to take Meridia 10 mg. This option helps to see the body reaction to Meridia drug. If needed, the dosage can be increased up to 15 mg. People can only take one Meridia capsule per day, just as Duromine capsules. These drugs are better to take in the morning with a full glass of water.
Meridia 15 mg is a maximal daily dose. Using more than one capsules of Meridia can cause side effects and overdose. Meridia is contraindicated to patients who have:
- high blood pressure
- chronic circulatory insufficiency
- mild or moderate dysfunction of the liver or kidneys
- mental retardation
Meridia weight loss pills are designed for adults over 18 years old. Elderly patients are not recommended to take large doses of Meridia. Meridia weight loss pills are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Unlike Duromine, Meridia weight loss drug can be used for long time. Maximum period of Duromine use is 12 weeks. Meridia can be used within 9 months and more.
Both medications provide a significant influence on the cardiovascular system; therefore, they can cause some side effects. Repeated clinical trials have shown that Meridia weight loss pills increase the risk of cardiovascular side complications and stroke.
Nowadays, drugs containing Sibutramine are no longer used in obesity therapy in most developed countries (like the USA, Canada, European Union and Australia).
